Job summary

As the lead Parkinson's CNS in the neuro pathway you will lead this pivotal service with a community first approach.

You will form part of the Dudley Rehabilitation Service leads managing a the Parkinson's pathway delivering Parkinson's specific care in patient homes and an outpatient settings.

Working with MDT is key and we are fortunate to have Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, Dieticians, Speech and Language therapists, Therapy Assistants Practitioners, Nurses and Pharmacy as part of the wider team.

Main duties of the job

  • To manage a caseload of PD patients who need ongoing support, assessment and treatment within the community.
  • To have a specialist understanding of medications used to treat PD, and common complications, understanding possible side effects. To educate patients on the various drugs available as necessary and appropriate.
  • To prescribe treatments within nurse, non-medical prescribing (NMP) constraints.
  • To undertake nurse led clinics for PD patients.
  • To have responsibility for and contribute to PD education for staff and patients
  • To undertake comprehensive assessments of patients, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills, and to formulate individualized management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, and utilizing a wide range of treatment skills and case management skills.
