The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering Function within Operations at Thompson Aero Seating. This will include driving short-term initiatives to deliver against immediate business needs, as well as securing full enablement for pre-production readiness. In addition to fulfilling the short-term requirements the individual will be responsible for establishing the long-term ME organisation / processes to secure NPI / Industrialisation at FAI via implementation of robust Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturing and Design to Quality systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the overall ME functional performance to budget and performance KPIs
- Leadership and development of ME team to become high performing function
- Ownership of all ME processes across all Thompson Aero Seating (TAS) business units
- Responsibility for Manufacturing Bill of Materials and all Manufacturing Standard Work
- Responsibility for all industrialisation activities across the TAS business units
- Monitor and reduce manufacturing material costs and create KPIs to drive efficiencies
- Help the product introduction teams to identify risks and develop mitigation plans for current product introduction programs to avoid failures in qualification and service and to ensure that the equipment is rate capable and achieving the target cost.
- Responsible for the design of the manufacturing process flow
- Ownership of the CCB process
- Support new product introduction
- Managing CAPEX; machinery and equipment resourcing
- Responsible for ensuring that all processes are in line with QMS
- Working with Management Team to set and monitor standards and KPIs for staff
- Staff personal development and support as required

Essential
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role, within Manufacturing EngineeringExperience of lean, CI techniques and process improvement projectsEducated to degree level (preferably Masters) in a relevant engineering / manufacturing discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualificationProven lean skills – to drive continuous improvements, ergonomics, HS&E, and process capabilityExcellent analysis and evaluation skills with a drive to challenge the status quoExperienced leader with track record in hiring, training and leading direct and a large number of indirect reports, and production staff.Ability to communicate at all levelsProgramme & change management abilityAble to operate successfully at senior management level.Desirable
