Weekend Clinical Pharmacist - Part time h / w

The Royal Berkshire Hospital Pharmacy department is passionate about delivering high standard of care to patients by ensuring the provision of a medicines optimisation service 7 days a week.

In order to achieve our aspiration for an excellent 7-day clinical pharmacy service we have developed a dedicated role for weekend clinical pharmacists, working as part of a team of 6 pharmacists delivering a clinical pharmacy service to the medical and surgical admission units on a Saturday and Sunday as well as on one week-day.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated pharmacists to join our friendly, supportive RBH pharmacy team in the role of weekend clinical pharmacists. We are committed to supporting and mentoring our staff and will provide training for pharmacists with limited hospital experience.

The successful candidate would be an enthusiastic, innovative registered pharmacist who has capacity to work up to 3 in 4 weekends and one day each week-day. Specific details to be confirmed prior to recruitment. A minimum of 4 full weeks of induction will be required at the start of employment.

Main duties of the job

Manage time and resources to ensure that pharmacy services are provided in a timely and appropriate manner at all levels within the hospital.

Minimise risk to patient, public and other healthcare professionals by giving appropriate advice on drug handling, administration and disposal

Prioritise and allocate workload to allow efficient discharge of patients

Assist in the work of the Medicine Information Service.

  • oMasters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent (from an accredited University registered with GPhC).
  • o1 year Pre-Registration training
  • oCurrent registered Member of GPhC
