As part of Sulzer's continued growth, our advanced pump design and manufacturing facility Leeds facility has seen a substantial increase in large package orders. With packages exceeding 50 tonnes—some reaching over 70 tonnes—our complex lifting operations now demand a skilled Lifting Specialist to manage these challenges. If you have expertise in lifting large and heavy items, we want you to join our team.

The role of Lifting Specialist is critical to ensuring safe and efficient handling of heavy equipment, supporting ongoing operations, and training staff. You will play a key role in implementing best practices and ensuring our teams are compliant with the latest standards. In this role, you will work with cutting-edge equipment and be at the forefront of maintaining operational safety.

Your main tasks and responsibilities :

  • Deliver crane and lift truck training, and provide support for critical lifts.
  • Develop, approve, and oversee lift plans and ensure safe systems of work for mechanical handling.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with lifting standards and manage hazardous activities.
  • Investigate incidents related to mechanical handling and liaise with external inspection bodies.
  • Train staff on the safe use of specialist lifting equipment and accessories.
  • Ensure compliance with UK lifting legislation and promote safety initiatives across the facility.

To succeed in this role, you will need :

  • In-depth knowledge of UK mechanical handling standards and legislation.
  • CPCS Appointed Person (A61) certification.
  • IOSH Managing Safety is preferred.
  • Membership in relevant bodies (LEEA preferred).
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in lift planning software.
