Role

Responsible for Market Advocacy & Strategy for NTAM International GFO (Global Family Office) expansion and contributing to client growth and retention. Executive level interaction within Northern Trust, together with external senior interaction with key industry bodies, regulators and centers of influence in order to lead expansionary plans in line with Northern Trust's vision.

Lead NTAM’s GFO approach to business expansion and capability development in close coordination with GFO. Identify business development opportunities. Engage with external stakeholders and media. Communicate emerging trends, opportunities and threats. Leverage intelligence and research to support Northern Trust's business unit leaders and wider business leadership with strategic decisions within the enterprise. Subject to resourcing growth, manage a team, conducts performance management and career development processes, and staffing and disciplinary actions.

Major Duties

  • Seasoned multi-disciplinary GFO expert with extensive investment, client facing and business experience.
  • Focus of role is building and personally executing a growth strategy while leading a small team that will be build commensurate with activity and success.
  • Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and / or ambiguous issues
  • Collaborates with international distribution, product and investment teams in seeking to develop market presence and generate new sources of revenue
  • Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
  • Participates in developing division strategic plan and sets goals and priorities based on the direction set for the unit; follows through to ensure that objectives are met
  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.
  • Makes staffing decisions, manages expenses and salary review process for the division

Knowledge / Skills

  • Leadership and organizational skills are required to determine the business unit's goals, resourcing needs, and ability to marshal cross functional teams
  • In-depth GFO functional / industry knowledge with tangible experience leading a GFO practice, working in or advising a family office or related experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ability to influence and manage stakeholders externally / commercially and internally
