Deputy ManagerReports to : Nursery ManagerJob Purpose : The Deputy Manager supports the Nursery Manager in daily operations, ensuring high-quality education and care. This role involves leading a room if required, handling managerial duties in the Manager’s absence, and balancing business decisions with the needs of children and families. Key responsibilities include staff supervision, safeguarding, health and safety, and maintaining compliance with regulations. The Deputy Manager also plays a key role in marketing the nursery, engaging with the local community, and ensuring high occupancy levels.Key Responsibilities : Operational & Leadership :

  • Support the Manager in all aspects of nursery operations and deputize when necessary.
  • Oversee policies, procedures, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Act as a keyholder, managing security, opening / closing procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Handle and respond to complaints professionally, escalating when required.
  • Assist with inspections, audits, and ensure implementation of necessary improvements.
  • Maintain accurate registers, records, and admissions data.
  • Implement safeguarding procedures, reporting concerns appropriately.
  • Supervise risk assessments, health & safety policies, and food safety compliance.
  • Manage first aid administration and accident reporting procedures.Staff Supervision & Development :
  • Lead and mentor staff, identifying training needs and organizing development opportunities.
  • Oversee performance management, handling underperformance issues when needed.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration among staff for smooth operations.
  • Conduct staff inductions, mentoring, and support professional development.Child Development & Planning :
  • Oversee planning and delivery of a stimulating learning environment.
  • Ensure individual child development plans are maintained and shared with families.
  • Support smooth transitions for new children, liaising with families for reassurance.Ensure confidentiality while adhering to safeguarding protocols
