We are a hyper-growth Tech startup on a mission to revolutionise student rental. We’re now looking for a Full Stack Engineer to help us on the next stage of our journey.
We were formed after our co-founders - Harry and Ben - experienced the pain-points of renting a house while at university, and knew that there had to be a better way.
We're now up and running in four UK cities and have launched in the US. In 2023 we were recognised by Tech Climbers as a rapidly scaling tech company, and we're currently fundraising to fuel our growth even further.
What you'll do
- As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our existing products : a mobile app built in React Native and a backend portal built in Laravel Livewire.
- You'll work closely with our experienced development team to contribute to the entire software development lifecycle and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions..
- You’ll assist in the maintenance and enhancement of our mobile app, implementing new features and optimising performance.
- You’ll contribute to the development of our backend portal, built in Laravel Livewire.
- You will write clean, well-documented, and efficient code that aligns with coding standards and best practices.
- You’ll participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to maintain code quality.
- You’ll troubleshoot and debug issues across the stack, ensuring smooth functionality of both products.
- You will stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to suggest innovative solutions
What we're looking for
You probably identify as a “Mid-Level” Full Stack Developer, with good commercial experience, ideally within a startup / scaleup environment.You will have commercial experience with our Tech Stack : Laravel (Livewire), PHP, ReactNative, React, AWSYou have strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug and resolve complex technical issuesYou have great verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative mindset to work effectively within a team.You’re based in / near the North West and can work to our hybrid policy (see below).What we offer

First Stage - Exploratory call with our Talent Partner to discuss your experience and go through any initial questions (30 mins)Second Stage - Informal video call with one of Senior Developers - learn what it's like to be a Engineer at Housr (30 mins)Third Stage - Remote task to evaluate key skills for the role (written in Laravel)Fourth Stage - A single F2F interview split into two parts :Part 1 - A chance for us to chat through your task (what went well, what you’d improve with more time etc) (30 mins)
