Food Sustainability Support Officer (Shared Prosperity Fund)

Salary Scp 27 to 30 £26,410 - £29,300 pa

37 Hours Per Week

Fixed term until 31st March 2025

Shared Prosperity Fund

Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO) is the largest County Voluntary Council (CVC) in Wales. In partnership with Newport City Council (NCC), GAVO manage a food resilience project with initial funding from NCC to set up the Food Network and collaborate with a range of organisations providing support to the community around. Further investment from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of the UK Government Levelling Up agenda will continue to fund food sustainability and resilience activity that will work towards a Food Strategy for the communities of Newport.

About the role

Working with the Food Project Manager, the post holder will continue to engage with and build capacity and resilience around grass roots groups, maintaining and expanding the existing network and helping improve access and affordability of good food across Newport. The post holder will work closely with a dedicated and passionate GAVO Newport Team who are making a real difference to local people.

About you

The right person for this role will have experience of working in partnership and in collaboration with a wide spectrum of organisations and groups. Experience of facilitating and supporting networks and carrying out surveys and consultations is essential for this role.

Qualifications / Experience :

Essential

  • Working with or within the Third Sector.
  • Working flexibily in a team to deliver a service.
  • Awareness of safeguarding procedures and working within a policy framework.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Well-developed ICT skills and competent in the use of digital office systems & social media platforms.
  • Desirable

  • Managing a budget.
  • Ability to identify and signpost to available support services / opportunities.
