Band 5 Staff Nurse - Rosewood Ward

Service / Ward / Department Summary :

Rosewood Ward is a 10 bed organic assessment ward in Offerton, Stockport. We deliver outstanding care to people who are living with dementia who are admitted for an assessment of their needs. Our aim is to help people live well with dementia by working with families, carers and the wider MDT to manage the distressing symptoms they are suffering from. We will then work with the families and carers on a discharge pathway that supports both the people living with dementia and their families and carers. Rosewood Ward is a challenging and rewarding environment and we aim to offer the best care we can provide to both the people living with dementia and those that support them. We are supported by a full multidisciplinary team of Consultant Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses, Psychology, occupational therapy and social workers

Main duties of the job

Role Summary :

As a qualified nurse you would be a vital member of the team in delivering person centred care to those admitted onto the ward. You will be working with people who can be very distressed and display some very challenging behaviours. It will be your responsibility to provide reassuranceand distraction, using care and compassion,for the people living with dementia. You will also be responsible for a wide range of tasks such as care planning and implementation, risk assessment, physical health assessment, liaising with the wider MDT, ward rounds and you will be a named nurse.

Education / Qualifications

Essential

  • First level registered nurse, RMN or RN in Mental Health
  • Must have a good understanding of both innumeracy and language skills.
  • Desirable

  • Qualification in psychosocial interventions an advantage
  • Completed Preparation for Mentorship
  • Experience

    Desirable

  • Current experience of adult acute inpatient wards
  • Knowledge

  • Knowledge base in terms of this client group

  • Be able to perform required duties of the post.
