Role / Department :

In this role, you will bring your proven track record in in auditing a risk management universe that includes such areas as portfolio risk, financial risk, investment risk among others. You will play a leading and strategic role in the design and execution of the risk-based audit coverage strategy for the team.

You will interact with local, regional and global senior and executive management to evaluate these risks and ensure that the corresponding reviews are appropriately prioritized and staffed.

Major Duties :

1. Providing strategic thought leadership in designing an audit coverage strategy over all aspects the Specialists area(s) of expertise

2. Draft board reporting, both at the legal entity and corporate levels, to provide insight to board members on the key risks and themes identified by the Audit Team

3. Interact with global regulators to articulate Audit’s view, and ongoing coverage and assessment of business processes and activities.

4. Functions in various roles on audit engagements, including subject matter expert or providing consulting or oversight functions based on the needs of the team

5. Provides technical expertise to the Audit Team and uses sound audit practices

6. Maintains familiarization and technical expertise with the assigned business unit(s) including organizational structure, personnel, activities and products, new product development, financial performance and risk and problem areas

7. Monitor regulatory updates and provide team with guidance on impact of changes in regulatory environment and how to adjust audit plan and coverage to support.

8. Interacts, partners and presents to Senior and Executive Management to understand the risks within the business, business changes and other significant events that could significantly affect the business and / or the audit plan

9. Manages and performs special projects as assigned

10. Participates in meetings with business units, Senior, and Executive Management to discuss audit results

11. Communicates with partners at all levels, developing and presenting recommendations on operations and controls for the business unit

12. Utilizes understanding of various Corporate units to ensure operations, services, and systems have proper audit controls in place (i.e., design of the control environment)

13. Evaluates corporate management, business processes, business controls and operating practices during audits and consulting / monitoring engagements

14. Applies analytical skills to review information and determine potential control weaknesses

15. Develops the audit teams technical understanding

16. Represents Audit Services or Steering Committees and / or Working Groups

17. Drive and support change in the Audit Services team in line with the vision and strategy

Skills / Knowledge :

  • A College or University degree, auditing and / or systems experience in a financial institution or similar public accounting experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise in a portfolio risk management or financial risk management
  • Knowledge of auditing in the financial services industry and basic accounting principles and related work experience
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, PRM, FRM, CAIA, ) and / or an MBA along with demonstrated technical abilities in select areas (e.g., portfolio risk, regulatory compliance, etc.) are preferred
  • Thorough understanding of project management principles in relation to people, systems and processes, to provide value quickly and enable change; and,
  • Interest and aptitude for identifying problems of varying complexity and developing sound and actionable solutions within given constraints
  • Analytical and organizational skills are necessary to conduct audits
  • Strong report writing
  • Previous internal audit management experience is preferred
