Role Overview
The Accounts Assistant will handle general accounting duties, including managing cashbooks, purchase and sales ledgers, payments, and month-end procedures. You will liaise with senior management and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Cash and Bank Management : Download daily bank statements, update cashbooks, organize direct debits.
- Purchase Ledger Management : Enter invoices, control authorizations, transfer invoices to the ledger.
- Sales Ledger Management : Post cash receipts, organize refunds.
- Month-End / Year-End Routines : Coordinate ledger processes, prepare reports.
- Financial Support : Prepare schedules, assist with audits and reports.
- Authority Limits : Decline or delay payments outside guidelines.
- Additional Tasks : Expenses, Fixed Assets management.
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (Grade C or above)AAT membership (student or qualified)Strong organizational skills, numeracy, attention to detailExperience in a similar role within a £60M+ organizationProfessional appearance and demeanorEffective communication skillsAbility to multitaskProficiency in MS Office and accounting software (Pegasus Opera or similar), Barclays.NETBenefits
