Job description

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, particularly in the plant and agricultural sectors. We are a family-run business based in Cornwall, specializing in Groundworks, Civil Engineering, Plant Hire, Haulage & Agricultural Contracting.

Role Description :

This is a full-time hybrid role as a Heavy Plant Mechanic at M H Groundworks LTD located in the Helston area, with flexibility for some remote work. The role involves maintaining and repairing heavy plant machinery, installing and servicing Rototilt products, conducting regular inspections, diagnosing faults, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of equipment.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy plant machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Be able to use Diagnostic equipment (Jaltest Diagnostic Tools).
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations.

Qualifications :

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Plant Mechanic or similar role, specifically with plant and agricultural equipment.
  • As we run a mixed fleet, it’s important to have confidence when attending to breakdowns on possibly unfamiliar equipment.
  • Knowledge of heavy plant machinery, diagnostic equipment, and repair tools.
  • Experience in Warranty work and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications in heavy machinery maintenance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Essential to have Strong knowledge on the Electrical & Hydraulic systems.
  • HGV Knowledge would be advantageous.

    • Rototilt :

    This Job Role includes a unique opportunity to develop your skills and learn about Rototilt. Rototilt Group manufactures tiltrotators, machine couplers, tools and control systems that challenge what can be achieved with an excavator. You would learn how to install and service the products.

  • Attend Training courses for Rototilt products & speak to customers about any queries alongside helping sales staff to form quotes for customers.
  • Potentially attend trade shows with Rototilt.
