The salary for this permanent Prison Registered General Nurse job is £30,728 - £36,419 per annum.

As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will complete assessments and manage a caseload of patients within a secure setting. Main Duties :

  • Manage a personal caseload of patients diagnosed with Learning Disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Conduct initial assessments for new referrals, develop appropriate care plans, and implement follow-up procedures.
  • Participate in processes designed to support patients at risk of self-harm or suicide, following establishment policy and NICE Guidance.
  • Attend monthly supervision sessions with your line manager and complete annual Employee Development Reviews (EDR) to evaluate targets, progress, and learning objectives.
  • Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with patience and resilience, to support patients effectively.
  • Provide training and advice to staff on the care of patients with Learning Disabilities.
  • Assist in organizing and conducting awareness days and workshops led by the Primary Care Mental Health Team (PCMHT), and collaborate with the team to enhance these initiatives.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly Integrated Mental Health Team Referral meetings to ensure a coordinated approach in managing at-risk patients.

    • Requirements of the Prison Registered General Nurse :

  • Valid NMC registration
  • 5-year residency history in the UK
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in clinical practice
  • Experience working in a secure environment
  • Degree-level qualification or higher
  • Experience in leading or participating in innovation and change initiatives
  • Nurse Prescriber qualification
  • Proven ability to contribute to a ‘value for money’ service
  • Possession of a valid driving licence
