A 12-month fixed term / secondment position has become available within the Hydatidiform Mole Follow-Up Service (HMFUS) for a Healthcare Science Practitioner to cover a period of maternity leave. Applicants should have an Honours Degree in an appropriate biological science. The successful candidate will utilise broad theoretical and practical knowledge to perform laboratory procedures, interpreting data and compiling reports for authorisation. The post-holder will contribute to the production and manufacture of CE-marked diagnostic devices used in the service, and which are provided to the rest of the UK Hydatidiform Mole Service. As a Practitioner, you will work closely with a Senior Healthcare Science Practitioner, to support the Clinical Scientist to ensure that the technical and production workload of the Service is undertaken in a timely and efficient manner. Continued professional development and training will be actively encouraged in addition to participating in the validation of new procedures and equipment.
HMFUS is a small friendly team of Technical, Scientific and Clinical staff, supported by the East Of Scotland Regional Genetics Service (ESRG), to provide a first-class service for the diagnosis and follow-up of women in Scotland with molar pregnancy or gestational trophoblastic diseases (GTD). The Service is situated within Ninewells Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for suitably motivated applicants to further their career within the NHS and gain experience within a small and specialised diagnostic service.
