This is a significant role in the UK&I’ and Growth Markets’ organisations and for PZ’sstrategic plans, managing the relationship with our external suppliers and internal business stakeholders. This role will be working with a variety of stakeholders ranging from Executive Leaders to key contributors at all levels of the business.

The Senior Procurement Manager for 3rd Party leads the prioritisation, planning and delivery for the sourcing of goods and services related to externally sourced finished goods, responsible for an annual spend of circa £40m. The role will work collaboratively and strategically with internal PZstakeholders and external suppliers to deliver a consistently high-quality product and service whilst minimising cost and risk and furthering the business’ sustainability ambitions.

As a Procurement Team we are responsible formargin improvement programme. Including identifying the opportunity, scoping out, delivering and monthly reporting on the savings and any potential risks.

The Senior Procurement Manager will lead 3rd Party Manufacturing budgeting process, cost management and financial plans. Including monthly reviews with Supply Chain Finance of performance vs budget, sharing market movements, identifying and reporting on financial impacts / risks.

The main business stakeholders are likely to be the respective Business Unit functions and leadership teams, Group Procurement and other group functions (senior management) and their direct reports. The role holder will be expected to work with the UK&I and Growth Market Supply Chain and Commercial Leadership stakeholders to understand priorities and develop Procurement Category plans aligned to the overall business strategy and NPD plans. The role holder will also need to work effectively with procurement peers, financial shared services, compliance & audit and master data teams.

Key Skills Experience

Degree educated or comparable experience in business or related discipline

Solid understanding of general business economics and cost drivers; with an extensive knowledge of procurement covering both commercial and technical facets across a diverse portfolio

Ability to manage multi-national project basedactivities

Support operating units in delivery of targets for Operating Profit, Operating Contribution and Net Working Capital reduction.

Strong analytical & financial skills (strong Excel reporting skills) and results orientated; comfortable setting and delivering against bold, stretch target

English essential, both verbal and in writing with the ability to summarise complex market situations into peers and senior stakeholder communication (strong PowerPoint)

Highly effective interpersonal skills – excellent negotiator and strong communication and influencing skills to all organisational levels and particularly at executive level.

Team player but ability to work autonomously in a demanding environment; Proactive and creative

Strong Microsoft Office proficiency including Excel and PowerPoint and Procurement in FTSE 250 / fast paced FMCGpreferable

Accountabilities

You will be accountable for the 3rd Party (supply, cost, service, quality & cash) spend across the respective PZ unit.

You will lead sourcing strategies for 3rd party category in the business unit to demonstrate knowledge and expertise across the business and drive optimal commercial conditions

Lead creation and execution of procurement and actively manage any potential challenges

Ensure a productivity pipeline delivers Year-on-Year annual net productivity and align with function objectives by reduce Total Cost of Ownership and optimise cash flow

  • Support and deliver competitive commercial contracts via robust negotiation and adherence to these contracts

Deliver NPD / Innovation initiatives to support wider business goals simultaneously ensuring appropriate commercial terms have been met.

Drive supplier performance and contract compliance – providing regular financial, service and quality forecasts to the HOP, Procurement Director, Chief Supply Officer, Functional Directors and other relevant executives

Responsible for the development, execution and follow up of Risk Management initiatives aimed to reduce the supply risk, currency exposure and ensure sustainable supply practices.

Conduct category spend analysis to identify and prioritise improvement opportunities.

Stakeholder management : develop relationships with internal stakeholders. Represent procurement in business review and strategy meetings - ensuring that sourcing strategies and value-added activities are harmonised to business needs.

Manage and drive PZC sustainability ambitions pertaining to the sourcing and management of suppliers to PZC

Complete financial forecasting, develop and execute cost savings / margin improvement projects. Create cross functional productivity plans to deliver long term margin improvements, driving growth via margin enhancement, high value negotiations, innovation, insights, cash management, sustainability and supplier relationships

Work collaboratively with the Procurement Team to uplift functional capability and deliver commercial change, including any functional transformation programmes

Technical / Professional Experience

5+ years’ experience sourcing a broad range of direct procurement roles – specific 3rd party manufacturing category management desirable.

Experience of managing complex supply chains and developing supply chain and supplier relationship strategies to manage risk and resilience across

Ability to influence effectively at Senior Level, strong leadership experience working at a functional level and with a broad range of senior-level stakeholders;

Working as a collaborative member of a larger team in a matrix structure, driving organisational change and with a track record of uplifting capability and understanding what best in class looks like;

Track record of achievement of building positive working relationships, supported by good and adaptable communication skills (written, spoken, presentation)
