Job description

Overview

Element have an excellent opportunity for a Health Safety and Quality Officer . Working as part of a small HSQ team in a large laboratory there will be opportunities to attend offsite courses as well as extensive on the job training . You will work closely with all departments to ensure that we continue to maintain the highest standard of health safety and quality within the business.

Element Deeside is the largest analytical chemistry laboratory within the Element Group and the market leading UK laboratory undertaking the testing of soils waters wastes oils NAPLs ambient air soil vapours and gases from all over the world. The laboratory undertakes high volume routine analysis as well as offering bespoke method development technical support and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to enhance the support we can deliver. The laboratory has an international reputation for service excellence and supports clients that require a higher level of technical expertise reliability in data quality and seamless project management from sample collection to timely delivery of data in the format of choice.

Responsibilities

  • Working in the Health Safety and Quality department assisting with implementing maintenance and improvement of the quality and health and safety management system
  • Maintaining AQC precision and bias log calibration schedule and equipment register
  • Maintaining document control system
  • Carry out quality and health and safety management system audits method witness horizontal and vertical
  • Assisting in maintaining and monitoring nonconformances and query log
  • Assisting in maintaining and monitoring SHE tool and carry out investigations into all incidents near misses and hazard identifications
  • Carry out safety inspections
  • Performing all duties in accordance with the companys Health and Safety policy
  • Ad hoc duties as required

Skills / Qualifications

  • A science background with education to A level as a minimum
  • Degree qualification in a relevant subject is desirable although not essential
  • Relevant experience within a commercial analytical laboratory would be advantageous
  • Highly motivated and organized individual
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of work or safety
