- To be considered for this position you must be qualified as a Registered Nurse with a current active NMC Pin or hold an active HCPC Registration
As the Head of Surgical Services your key responsibilities include :
Provide professional leadership and management across all theatres, endoscopy and recovery and ensuring appropriate structures are in place to support nurses / theatre practitioner at all levelsProvide oversight in relation to management and use of equipment, processes and training and competency of staff working within the Minor Procedures Suite in OPDEnsure that professional nursing issues and continuous quality of care improvementsEvaluate / develop Policies and Procedures that reflect the patient safety and quality agenda and the Hospital's policies and procedures, and staff accept ownership of theseEnsure systems are in place for the management and monitoring and audit of quality standards, complaints, critical incidents and untoward occurrencesIdentify personal training objectives in line with annual personal development plan inconjunction / agreement with staff and ManagementMaintain skills level and knowledge to perform duties as Head of Surgical ServicesAccountant to ensure purchasing is based on value for money and clinical effectivenessMaintain a programme of rolling replacement for key equipment where required and identify where new equipment is required in line with the Consultant and specialty strategyThe following skills and experience would be preferred and beneficial for the role :
Experience e.g. cardiac, elderly care, orthopaedics medical courseEvidence of involvement in project managementExperience of quality improvement, audit and standard settingExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsConfident, flexible and adaptable role modelAutonomous leadership / management styleAble to negotiate and influence at senior levelProven management and leadership abilityAware of nursing and national developmentsThe successful Head of Surgical Services will receive an excellent Competitive Salary.
