Behaviour and ASD Mentor – Psychology Background

Location : Bridgend

Pay : £12.90 / hour (£83.85 / day)

A highly regarded SEN school in Bridgend is looking for a Behaviour and ASD Mentor with expertise in psychology to join their team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students in overcoming behavioural challenges, developing coping strategies, and reaching their full potential.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Apply psychological principles to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Mentor individuals and small groups of students with additional needs.
  • Support students in managing behavioural challenges through emotional regulation techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement personalised behaviour support plans.
  • Serve as a positive role model, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and confidence.

About You :

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an SEN or educational setting.
  • Background in psychology, counselling, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to behaviour management.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies (training available).

    • Requirements :

  • Relevant experience in psychology, education, or mental health support.
  • A strong passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through the agency).
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
