An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Lancaster Mill for a hands on Site Engineer.

The Job

Taking responsibility for the overall maintenance of the site, both planned and reactive maintenance tasks, fault finding and plant optimisation. Engage with other key stakeholders to support the creation of capital plans, budgets, and maximise efficiency, service and feed quality while ensuring that feed safety, health and safety and environmental standards are never compromised.

Key responsibilities include : -

Ensure you and other Engineers work in a safe and efficient manner in all areas of the site and follow the company's procedures, upholding the companies standards on Safety and Quality.

Ensure that all operating procedures and other legal and company requirements are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance. This includes the UFAS accreditation

Follow the permit to work system and ensure all maintenance is carried out with safety in mind.

Expedite reactive maintenance tasks in a safe and timely manner

Minimise plant downtime due to mechanical and electrical failure

Carry out maintenance in accordance with the company maintenance system and schedule to ensure that all plant and machinery on the site is correctly maintained to enable the mill to perform efficiently and safely to meet production requirements.

Maintain suitable and appropriate spares to avoid foreseeable interruption to production

Monitor machine performance and condition to ensure efficient use of resources, and prevent unnecessary equipment failures.

Support the plant internal hygiene audit and contribute to standards improving audit on audit

Take an active role in designing, implementing and maintaining maintenance schedules.

Take part in an on-call maintenance cover team for the site when you are not at work.

Manage approved engineering contractors carrying out work on site and ensure the standard of their work is satisfactory, aligned with the scope of work originally requested and agreed and cost-effective

Participate in and oversee planned maintenance shutdowns.

Take a proactive approach to your own continuous development and learning.

Adopt a flexible approach to cover absenteeism / demand and work required in other areas / locations to meet the needs of the business.

Adhere to Company and Group policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to Safety, Health and Environmental.

To ensure all relevant legislation and approved codes of practice, are adhered to in respect of ongoing compliance, including but not limited to UFAS, FIAS, & NOPS assurance schemes.

Any other task associated with the efficient technical support of a Workshop.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES REQUIRED

Essential

Responds positively to changing business priorities, and able to remain composed when under pressure.

Have a proactive can do attitude.

Have a strong working knowledge of the mill and / or the production processes.

Strong communications skills.

Strong Problem solving techniques, through innovative, logical and structured thinking.

Desirable

Experience of maintenance software and other IT.

Qualification to NVQ or City and Guilds standard in Engineering.
