Location : Sheffield, The University of Sheffield International College

Contract Type : Variable hours (up to 25 hours), Permanent

Salary : £ 37.89 per hour

The University of Sheffield International College seeks a dedicated Physics tutor to join our Science Team. You will teach Foundation Level Physics (Level 3), akin to GCE Physics, to international students in both classroom and laboratory settings. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, marking assessments, and providing feedback. Proficiency in IT skills related to teaching, including VLEs, is essential. The role may also involve coordinating the module, leading the teaching team, performing Quality Assurance, updating teaching materials, and creating assessments.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Teach Physics, a Level 3 module, to groups of international students in classroom and laboratory settings
  • Mark assessments and provide feedback to students
  • Teach a Physics module similar to GCE Physics curricula in the UK
  • Competent in using IT skills related to teaching, including VLEs
  • Potentially act as module coordinator
  • Lead the teaching team and carry out Quality Assurance procedures
  • Ensure teaching materials are up to date
  • Create formative and summative assessments

ABOUT YOU

  • A degree in a Physical Science or Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience of teaching Physics or a related discipline at RQF level 3 or above (A-level / Foundation level).
  • Experience of assessment marking at a minimum of RQF level 3 or above.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills, using a Virtual Learning Environment (e.g. Blackboard)
