Civil Works Team Member – InfrastructureLocation : Midland Metro Ltd, Wednesbury Depot, Potters Lane, WS10 0ARSalary : £31,707 per annum (Including on-call allowance) + Excellent Benefits!Contract : Full time, PermanentBenefits : MML Pension, Annual Leave & Free travel on Tram & WM Bus for you and your partnerWest Midlands Metro is your gateway to an exciting career in the heart of England's thriving West Midlands region.We are the driving force behind modern, sustainable urban transportation, connecting cities, towns, and most importantly – people!With a strong presence in the heart of England, we play a crucial role in connecting communities, enhancing mobility, and contributing to the economic development of the region.Our sleek trams provide fast, convenient, and eco-friendly transportation solutions, reducing road congestion, lowering carbon emissions, and fostering a greener future for the West Midlands.We are now recruiting for a Civil Works Team Member to support Midland Metro Ltd’s mission to provide a safe, secure, reliable and sustainable tramway.You will undertake work to MML Infrastructure with efficiency, ensuring that maintenance and repair tasks are performed with utmost safety and effectiveness, and that all assets are maintained in accordance with the required standards.In addition to this as our Civil Works Team Member you will be responsible for :
- Ensuring inspection, maintenance and repair tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Ensuring all work tasks are completed in a safe and professional manner.
- Conducting repairs on tram stops, including tactile paving, blockwork, pedestrian crossings and tram stop furniture.
- Maintaining and repairing drainage systems on and off track.
- Painting and maintaining MML-owned structures.
- Ensuring trackside vegetation remains outside determined hazard zones.
- Assisting in the testing and commissioning of new systems.
- Supporting the switching of electrical substations.
- Assisting with other disciplines within the infrastructure department.
- Working night shifts for maintenance and repair work as required by MML management.
- On-call duties.In order to be successful in this role you must have / be :
- Previous working knowledge and experience within landscaping and construction.
- Previous experience in a relevant maintenance environment, ideally within civil infrastructure.
- Experience in adhering to safety protocols and procedures in previous roles.
- A GCSE Maths and English Grade C / 4 or above, or equivalent.
- Recognised building and landscaping qualifications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
