Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives? Do you share our values of honesty, respect, fun, compassion, and kindness? We are looking for dedicated, compassionate and flexible Support Workers to join our team in Thame, Oxfordshire , providing essential support to people with learning disabilities and / or autism.

About Us :

We are a charity dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities and / or autism, helping them lead fulfilling lives within their communities. We recruit people who share our values and believe that every person is unique. We don't just see people we support as "individuals"; we see them as people with hopes, dreams, and goalsjust like everyone else.

The Role :

As a Support Worker, you will play an essential role in supporting people in our care, providing person-centred support that respects each person’s uniqueness. You will be helping them to live their lives as independently as possible, while supporting them in their daily activities, socialising, learning new skills.

One person you may support is

  • Geoffrey , he is a wonderful person who is at the beginning of their transition from male to female. Your role will include :
  • Accepting Geoffrey for who they are and supporting them throughout their transition.
  • Supporting Geoffrey in feeling comfortable with their feelings and emotions, providing a safe and accepting environment.
  • Encouraging Geoffrey’s social inclusion by helping them get out and connect with others who share similar interests.
  • Supporting Geoffrey with life skills both at home and out and about, such as shopping, cooking, and helping with washing hair or having a shower
  • Respecting Geoffrey’s autonomy , including understanding that they may cancel support on the day if needed.

Flexible Support Worker Role Variable Hours

We’re looking for a compassionate and dependable individual to provide flexible support to Geoffrey. This is ideal for someone who can adapt to changing schedules and is available to step in when needed.

While there are no fixed regular shifts , the typical pattern of shifts you may be asked to cover includes :

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11 : 00am to 4 : 00pm
  • On alternate Mondays , a later shift of 1 : 00pm to 5 : 30pm , with a return pick-up at 7 : 15pm after Geoffrey attends a social group
  • Occasionally, later starts or finishes may be needed depending on Geoffrey’s mental health and support needs
  • You may be asked to cover full weeks when the main staff member is on leave. Flexibility is key, as support needs can vary

Why Relief Hours Work for You :

  • Flexibility to choose when you work, ensuring it fits your lifestyle.
  • Receive the same professional training as permanent staff.
  • A role designed around your convenience, while providing important support to those in need.
  • Over 95% of our staff transition to permanent roles, and we will guide you every step of the way.
  • Job security and career development opportunities.
  • What’s In It for You :

  • Gain valuable experience and training in social care.
  • Be part of a supportive, inclusive, and passionate team.
  • Make a lasting impact on the lives of the people you support, including Geoffrey and others with unique and inspiring stories.
  • If you’re someone who can bring your passion to the team, and would like to make a meaningful difference to people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you!
  • Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding."

  • Name changed for privacy
  • About You :

We are looking for individuals who have :

  • A good knowledge or training in Autism and mental health.
  • A UK manual driving licence (essential for supporting people to access the community).
