Job description

Job purpose :

To be part of a dedicated team of staff to in order to support Day Opportunity Officers in providing personalised activities in accordance with support plans for adults with physical and / or sensory disabilities.
Achieving improvements in individuals health, employability, social and community involvement and independence.
Supporting clients with their personal care for a variety of reasons. It is essential that Day Opportunities Officers and Assistants undertake this activity with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Being guided by DOOs and / or managers to use person centred approaches to ensure that the Service provides activities which enhance the quality of life for adults with a physical and or sensory disabilities.

Being alert to incidences of concern which may need the safeguarding protocol to be implemented.

Working with risk assessments and assisting in the updating of support plans.

The ability to be professional at all times with parent / carers whilst ensuring that the service user comes first.

Discussing with team members the content of risk assessments.

Requirements :

Minimum of 1+ years experience in a similar role.

The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in both verbal and written communications, with a range of people; taking account of their views; and using well-reasoned arguments to successfully negotiate and influence where necessary to achieve positive outcomes.

The ability to plan for, adapt to and work with a variety of situations, individuals and groups - demonstrating an open and positive attitude to change and showing the drive to make a success of it.

The ability to manage workload by prioritising and agreeing targets, creating plans and timetables, leading and monitoring activities and reviewing progress.

Demonstrate determination and commitment to achieve results and overcome difficulties and pressures.

Demonstrate a flexible approach in the delivery of work within the service area.
