Are you a passionate and innovative Art Teacher looking to make a lasting impact on students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are seeking an enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a forward-thinking SEMH School in Southend. This full-time, permanent role offers an incredible opportunity to inspire creativity, foster confidence, and promote self-expression in young learners.

This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, using art as a medium to unlock students' potential and support their holistic development. Whether you’re an experienced SEMH educator or eager to bring your skills to this rewarding field, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive art lessons tailored to meet the unique needs of students with SEMH challenges.
Foster a classroom environment that promotes creativity, emotional expression, and positive behaviour.
Support students in developing practical art skills alongside emotional and social growth.
Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to student development.
Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximise outcomes.
Contribute to whole-school initiatives and extracurricular activities that enrich the learning experience.
Uphold the school’s ethos and commitment to providing an inclusive, nurturing environment for all students.

Qualifications and Experience

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.

Strong understanding of the art curriculum and its adaptation for SEMH students.

Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Experience teaching in an SEMH or SEN setting.

Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and strategies for engaging students with SEMH needs.

A creative and reflective approach to teaching and learning.
