Location : Sheffield Children's Hospital Department : Respiratory Research Collaborating Partner : University of Sheffield

Are you passionate about improving children's health? Join our Respiratory Research team at Sheffield Children's Hospital to manage a project on sleep-disordered breathing in children.

As a Research Project Manager, you'll work with a dedicated team of research nurses / officers, a consultant, and a research physiotherapist. In collaboration with the University of Sheffield, you'll manage a clinical device study, oversee participant recruitment and consent, and ensure the smooth running of the project. You'll also support other research projects.

This role offers a great chance to learn about sleep-study set-up and train parents to manage sleep studies at home.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Clinical Trials Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include :

  • Manage a clinical device study on sleep-disordered breathing in children

  • Ensure smooth project delivery and cross-cover with team members
  • Gain training in sleep-study set-up and parent education for home studies
  • Collaborate with the University of Sheffield and contribute to ongoing research projects

  • Degree or Diploma Level Education as Registered Nurse, Midwife, AHP or Graduate with degree in subject relevant to clinical research and research experience
  • Have training in or be willing to undertake training in Good Clinical Practice and other relevant courses as required for the conduct of research in the NHS
  • Good understanding and awareness of the National Institute of Health Research and how research in the UK is supported
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Teaching, Mentoring and Assessors qualification
  • Higher level of qualification (MSc / PhD) in a relevant clinical / scientific discipline
  • Training in taking Informed Consent in clinical research
  • Clinical skills : Venepuncture and Cannulation, ECG, lung function tests etc

  • Significant knowledge of / experience of delivering clinical research studies in the clinical setting and / or considerable exposure to research conducted in the NHS (on wards / theatres / outpatients etc)
