Job Title : Mechanical Design EngineerLocation : RuncornSalary : up to £50kContract / Permanent : PermanentSite Based / Office / Remote : Office basedStart Date : ASAPAbout the Role : We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a minimum of five years' experience in mechanical design, particularly within the defence, aerospace, or space sectors. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge actuator technologies, contributing to the design, development, and optimisation of high-performance systems.Key Responsibilities : Lead the mechanical design and development of actuators and related components.Produce detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and specifications.Conduct structural, thermal, and tolerance analysis to ensure optimal performance.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical and software engineers.Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance.Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.Identify and implement improvements to enhance product reliability and manufacturability.Key Requirements : Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.Minimum of five years' experience in mechanical design, preferably in defence, aerospace, or space applications.Proficiency in 3D CAD software (such as SolidWorks, Creo, or Siemens NX).Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and thermal simulations.Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.Knowledge of relevant industry standards (such as MIL-STD, AS9100, ECSS, or equivalent).Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills and ability to work within a collaborative team environment.Benefits : Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunity to work on advanced technologies in a dynamic and growing sector.Professional development and career progression opportunities.A collaborative and innovative work environment.If you are a talented Mechanical Design Engineer looking for an exciting challenge, we would love to hear from you.
