SHEQ AdvisorLocation : York (with travel to project sites as required)Salary : £33,000 – £40,000 + Company Car or Car Allowance + Strong Holiday & PensionJob Type : Full-time, PermanentWorking Hours : Monday to Friday, with occasional night shift audits and overnight stays during peak project periodsRole OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and dedicated Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Advisor to support the effective delivery of SHEQ management across construction and business operations. This role is instrumental in promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and contributing to continual improvement within a dynamic work environment.Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake pre-construction site assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks early.Develop and maintain Construction Phase Plans in line with CDM Regulations.Conduct scheduled and ad hoc audits and inspections, ensuring adherence to internal policies and legal requirements.Produce comprehensive audit and inspection reports with actionable recommendations.Deliver safety briefings, including stand-down sessions, to site teams and contractors.Lead or support investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.Participate in client health and safety tours and represent the organisation professionally and collaboratively.Foster a strong safety culture by engaging employees and subcontractors in HSQE initiatives.Provide expert guidance on the preparation and review of risk assessments for both operational and construction activities.Essential RequirementsNEBOSH General Certificate is required.NEBOSH Construction Certificate is highly desirable.Full UK driving licence.Willingness to travel and stay overnight (up to 1–2 nights per week during busy periods).Flexibility to support both day and night shift site activities as necessary.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels
