The vacancy

If you can demonstrate experience working with babies, children and young people with complex care needs, are passionate about providing a high standard of nursing care in a family led environment, and hold a Nursing Associate degree, we would like to hear from you!

Here at Rainbows Hospice, we support the hospital to home transition for medically stable children & young people, requiring long term ventilation, who might otherwise need to remain on an intensive or high dependency care area through our Long-Term Ventilation and Step-Down Team.

Rainbows Hospice is currently seeking a Band 4 Nurse Associate to join our Long-Term Ventilation and Step-Down Team, providing 1-2-1 care for babies, children and young people who have a range of complex needs including long term ventilation of either a tracheostomy tube (invasive) or via a face mask / nasal cannula (non-invasive). As part of the LTV and Step-Down Team, you will have the opportunity to work within the multidisciplinary team made up of a variety of skilled members including Music Therapists, Complementary Therapists, and our non-medical workforce team of ACP’s.

Rainbows Hospice is available for families all year, 24 hours a day, we therefore operate on a shift basis to provide the best possible service.

In addition to Agenda for Change pay scales, our benefits include :

  • Established Training programme that will enable you to comply with NMC registration.
  • Training and support in Long-term ventilation.
  • Free onsite parking at the Hospice, Lark Rise, Loughborough.
  • Eligibility to join blue light card discount scheme.
  • Bupa Cashback plan.
  • Life Assurance.
  • 27 days holiday.
  • Plus bank holiday allowance but expectation to work bank holidays in this role.
  • Free access to our Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Access to occupational health.
  • Opportunity for current NHS pension scheme members to transfer their membership or a contributory pension scheme.
  • Shift enhancements.
  • Subsidised meals at the Hospice, Lark Rise, Loughborough.

About the role

To provide a high standard of nursing care in our small step-down team within Rainbows Hospice environment, under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

You will be responsible for (but not limited to) :

  • Under direct supervision, manage the care of children and young people (aged 0-25yrs), as part of the small LTV & step-down team.
  • Ensuring families have every opportunity to become empowered in all elements of their child or young person’s care.
  • Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, participate in the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of children and young people in partnership with them and their families.
  • Further responsibilities in the role of a Band 4 Nurse Associate at Rainbows, can be found by downloading the Job Description.
  • Requirements :

As a Nurse Associate, you’ll need to be qualified with a Nursing Associate degree qualification with 1 year post-registration experience in a relevant setting. You will have the ability to deliver patient centered care and ideally have the experience of working with babies, children and / or young people with complex care needs.

Long-term ventilation experience is desirable; however, specialist training and development opportunities will be provided. Excellent communication skills and the ability to demonstrate high standards of clinical care are essential. Further requirements can be found by downloading the Person Specification.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and barring Service Check) and pre-employment checks.
