We are looking to recruit and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our established teams on the functional mental health wards at The Mount. The OT team consists of Band 6, Band 5 and rotational band 5s as well each ward having a designated OTA and activity coordinators Main duties of the job The OT team consistently works alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team. The main duties of this role will be fully integrated with the ward team and environment on a daily basis. The focus of the OT role is to promote safe and timely discharge from hospital whilst supporting an individual to maintain there independence in a ward environment. There is an expectation that OT plays a key role in working with the wider MDT to formulate person centred care plans, evaluate the care provided and to contribute to wider MDT discussion through our newly formulated ward rounds.The post holder will have access to a range of support including regular clinical supervision, bi-monthly OT Forums and access to a specialist Practice Development OT who will be able to provide support and guidance. The trust has a supportive preceptorship programme for newly qualified Occupational Therapists. Detailed job description and main responsibilities The Older Adults’ Acute Inpatient Service provides inpatient care, assessment and interventions to service users experiencing acute or enduring mental health difficulties, to enable increased independence and successful reintegration back into the community, further rehab or supported care facilities. To provide Acute Inpatient based services that enable people to define, build and live a meaningful, independent and satisfying life.The post holder will work in a way that promotes positive partnership working between all members of the older adults’ acute inpatient service and its partners. They will have an excellent understanding of the principles of assessment and recovery and will practice clinically in a way that promotes therapeutic optimism and hope with service usersThe post holder will participate as directed by the Band 6 Occupational therapists and other senior colleagues in the operational functioning of the inpatient acute inpatient Team.
