Looking for a new and exciting challenge? Then think about working in NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.
Applications are invited from trainee doctors having recently completed or about to finish Core Anaesthesia Training to apply for the position of Clinical Development Fellow (CDF) in Anaesthesia and Intensive care.
These exciting posts will be split into 6 months covering the anaesthetic perioperative care for surgical specialties including General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology and Orthopaedics at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, then 6 months covering the range of level 1 to level 3 care delivered in our Intensive Care Unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. In addition, as a CDF, you will have protected 6 hours per week of development time and 2 hours of delivery of education / training with the multidisciplinary team. The remaining period will be distributed between clinical work in elective and emergency theatres, obstetrics, clinic and critical care both in and out of hours. The department has a commitment to teaching, training and service development and we would expect any applicant to be enthusiastic about contributing to this work.
The appointment will be on a fixed term and full-time basis (40 hrs) and remuneration will be determined by the pay and conditions of hospital medical and dental staff (NHS Circular : PCS (DD) 2024 / 01).
The surgical specialties in Forth Valley Royal Hospital provides acute services covering general surgery (including breast and vascular surgery), trauma and orthopaedics, urology, ENT, OMFS and ophthalmology. The anaesthesia department is an integral part of these teams with the aim of providing the best care to our patients.
The Intensive Care Unit in Forth Valley Royal Hospital provides ICU and HDU care for medical and surgical patients from across the acute hospital. We have 19 beds in a modern well provisioned unit. We maintain strong links to the Department of Anaesthetics but work closely with all areas of acute services in the hospital and a wide range of Allied Health Professionals.
You can look forward to a warm welcome and strong support from colleagues. Our hospital is situated in the heart of Scotland, nestled against the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, and close to vibrant towns that are richly endowed with excellent cultural and sporting facilities, offering good transport links to Edinburgh and Glasgow.
