Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Laboratory Manager who will direct, lead, and control the laboratory for the company and its clients, thus supporting the goal of providing a service to our clients that is accurate, timely and cost-effective.ABOUT YOUWe are seeking someone with exceptional leadership skills who has a passion for building and motivating teams. To be successful within this position must have knowledge and experience of testing within the petroleum industry.Required Skills and Experience : HNC or equivalent and relevant experience in the petroleum industryIdeally you will have a BSc in chemistry or a similar field and experience working within a laboratory within the petrochemical industryDemonstrable leadership skills obtained in a previous management / supervisory position with the ability to manage personnelUnderstanding of the significance of the data generated by test methodsPetroleum / Petrochemical testing experienceA background in quality assurance and experience in maintaining ISO 17025 accreditationABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYYou will oversee and drive improvements in new and pre-existing processes, continually re-evaluate whether each process is meeting the applicable standards and engage in problem-solving and improvements as applicable. In addition, you will be responsible for identifying and driving the implementation of cost-efficient practices, as well as being involved in financial reviews.Key activities : Implement, maintain, enforce and improve the Companys laboratory operating and quality management plansOverall technical responsibility for the direct operations of the laboratory; ensuring safety and integrity of serviceEngage with internal and external stakeholders to support technically biased decision-making processes, respond to analytical challenges and problem solveOverall quality control responsibility for the laboratory, in compliance with ISO9001 / 17025 accreditationsEnsures that the laboratory is a profitable asset for the Branch and contribute to business development opportunitiesMethod development and implementation of additional capabilities to support new testing,Project management for delivery of new laboratory servicesMaintain and improve the laboratorys efficiency and sustainability in a cost-effective mannerEnsures that calibrated and serviceable equipment and trained personnel are available for all jobsDeputise key laboratory duties and ensures personnel are aware of their contribution to the laboratorys quality management systemLead by example to set a high standard for professional behaviour and maintenance of a professional atmosphere in the workplaceSupervise Laboratory Technicians and Chemist InspectorsContribute to the operation of a 24 / 7 & 365 laboratory with ad-hoc cover provided outside of office hours, on weekends and bank holidayPeople Management Responsibilities : Drive performance by setting clear and achievable objectivesTeam engagement using one-to-ones, team meetings and regular feedbackAssist the Site Manager in managing performance, discipline, hiring & dismissalResponsible for the training and development of junior team membersSet a high-performance cultureWhat We Offer : Join Intertek and become part of our global network of inspiring and entrepreneurial colleagues.
