Scantec Recruitment are working in partnership with a market leading FMCG food manufacturing business on the Hertfordshire / Essex boarder, to assist in their search for a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager. Initially a hands-on role, driving the behavioural safety agenda, this will grow to a larger and more strategic role. This is a high-profile role where the successful candidate will be looked upon to set the standard in best practice across the site.
We’re seeking a proactive and driven NEBOSH qualified Health & Safety professional to spearhead the H&S agenda across their large, modern manufacturing facility. This is a highly autonomous role and represents a great challenge for an established H&S employee to make a significant impact.
HSE Manager - Key Responsibilities :
- Develop an annual plan to reduce the risk of accidents and incidents and improve health and wellbeing of all staff.
- To lead all H&S training, both in house and external & ensure there is a robust and effective training plan to ensure all leaders have fit for purpose Health and Safety training
- Take a lead on all Health and Safety and Environmental business activities including audits, site visits and business initiatives
- Lead a programme of continuous improvement and creating a positive, company-wide culture where Health and Safety is at the heart of everything the business does.
- Setting the strategic framework for the management of Environmental standards, engaging with stakeholders to ensure these are understood and embedded.
- Ensuring the business complies with statutory obligations and best practice, by making recommendations, proposing options, and developing implementation plans to ensure compliance in all areas of H&S.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of all environmental, sustainability and H&S policies / practices.
- Develop an engagement and continuous improvement framework for Environment and Health and Safety which facilitates the involvement of Colleagues at all levels.
- Assist in developing or improving training on various environmental topics (e.g., hazardous waste, new regulations, etc.) and conduct such training.
- Develop environmental strategies that ensure corporate sustainable development
- Network with local agencies and represent the site locally on all environmental strategies
- Management of budgets and control departmental spend
Required Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications :
We’re seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager / SHE Manager with experience from within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You would need to have a solid understanding of ISO14001 and BRC accreditations and hold a NEBOSH qualification. Ideally you will also hold a Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
