SEMH Learning Support AssistantDo you have a background in SEMH, SEBD or ASD? Have you had experience with challenging behaviour? Do you have Team Teach or MAPA training? Have you covered lesson? Experience tutoring or teaching small groups?This specialist school based in Harlesden (NW10) is looking for a special needs SEMH Learning Support Assistant with experience of working with challenging children and young people.  This is a specialist Alternative Provision that caters for young people who have been excluded or at risk of being excluded from a mainstream school.SEMH Learning Support Assistant will have the opportunity to work in this outstanding school with an international reputation in special education expertise, curriculum and resources.SEMH Learning Support Assistant must have experience working with mental health problems and complex SEN needs.This school believes that all young people should be provided with appropriate education in a safe, stable, containing learning environment. SEMH Learning Support Assistant will be working with a secondary aged pupils who have SEMD, SEBD troubled behaviour. Some students are academic and they range from KS2- KS4.SEMH Learning Support Assistant are given opportunities to succeed through the use of highly personalised individual education plans to help support their students.  This role starts ASAP and interviews will be held after half term.SEMH Learning Support Assistant will need excellent behaviour management skillsBe able to build positive relationships with young people and staff SEMH Learning Support Assistant need to be able to teach / cover a range of lessons when needed Good knowledge / experience working with children with SEMH within an Special needs environment SEMH Learning Support Assistant will need experience working with secondary aged pupilSEMH Learning Support Assistant will be collaborating with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculumAssessing children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and working with colleagues to identify individual pupils' special needsLiaising with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologistsThis is a full time / long term position and will lead to permanent if successful. Skills and experience required are as follows : SENEBDMental Health experienceASDExcellent behaviour managementCurrent DBS on the update serviceClassroom experienceWorking with primary or secondaryExperience teaching a range of subjects The schools offers : A committed and enthusiastic staff.
