Long - Term teachers are working with an alternative provision Gloucester , who are seeking an experienced  kitchen assistant to join their fantastic team on a permanent basis.

We are seeking applicants, who have previous experience of working in a school setting, with this being a specialist environment, you must be familiar with working with students who have special educational needs. These needs include Social, Emotional Mental Health needs , in addition to behaviour that challenges. The ideal candidate will have a Level 2 qualification in Food Safety.

You will be contracted to work Monday to Friday, between the hours of 11am - 2pm. There may be an opportunity to work additional hours, or support in after school and breakfast club.

Duties and responsibilities :

• Preparation of the dining area for service, which may include moving and / or setting up furniture and trolleys, cleaning putting away after service
• Preparation the service area, hot cupboards and other equipment as instructed.
• Wash dishes, cutlery, tumblers, jugs, serving utensils, containers, tables and all other catering equipment in the catering environment.
• Clean catering areas to regulated standards as directed.
• To assist in the serving of meals in line with agreed procedures.
• To encourage social skills and good table manners, ensuring safety with knives and forks.
• To clean up spillages of food and to organise clearing cutlery and crockery off tables.
• To carry out the washing up of food utensils and crockery etc. and to store items in a clean an efficient manner.
• To understand, and ensure the implementation of statutory Health and Safety policies, Environmental Health requirements and emergency and fire procedures.
• To ensure the safety and wellbeing of children, providing emotional support where necessary.
• Promoting and ensuring good behaviour and calm atmosphere.
• Reporting any misbehaviour that may occur in accordance with the school’s Behaviour Policy.
• Addressing issues calmly and politely and in doing so being a role model to the children.
• Report as appropriate any incidents to the senior members of staff.
