Senior Product Inspection EngineerLocation : GillinghamFull-time | Permanent | Competitive salary + benefitsWe are looking for a highly skilled Product Inspection Engineer to join a dedicated team supporting critical engineering activities from product validation through to new product development. This role offers the chance to work with state-of-the-art measurement technologies in a cutting-edge environment focused on driving innovation and continuous improvement.Key responsibilitiesPerform precise dimensional and surface measurements using microscopes, hand gauges, contact and optical measurement systems.Produce detailed inspection reports and effectively communicate technical findings to stakeholders.Lead inspection method development, measurement process innovation, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.Research new technologies and collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to enhance department capabilities.Supervise and mentor junior engineers and students.Ensure calibration and maintenance of equipment to maintain operational excellence.Support departmental targets related to budget, quality, performance metrics, and safety standards.Skills & experience requiredDegree in an appropriate engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years' experience.Master's degree in metrology or precision engineering (desirable).NPL Dimensional Measurement Certificates Level 1 & 2 (advantageous).Strong knowledge of dimensional metrology principles and surface finish measurement techniques.Hands-on experience with manual and digital microscopes, contact and optical 3D metrology equipment.Familiarity with concepts like traceability, measurement uncertainty, gauge R&R, and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T specifications.Proficiency in 3D CAD software and programming skills (Matlab, Python, VBA).Proven track record mentoring junior team members or apprentices.Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure with a proactive approach.Knowledge of 5S and workplace organisation best practices.CVs in Word Format to New Appointments Group, Expertly Matching Employers and Jobseekers since 1975.
