About the role :

We are a small, friendly and ambitious local authority. Adult Social Care is important to the Council and has benefitted from considerable investment.

There’s a lot of other great work going on in Adult Social Care. We are proud to be the only local authority in England to have abolished charging for support at home and in the community.

We believe in supporting and developing our staff to do the best job to make a positive difference with people. We are committed to high quality leadership, management and supervision and valuing our staff through ongoing career development.

We have great CPD opportunities, and the Get Ahead programme can support your career aspirations.

We value our staff, and your wellbeing is important - we have hybrid working, regular ASC staff forums and staff groups across the council e.g. disability and EDI groups and will be introducing Wellbeing days for Social Worker posts. We offer free tea and coffee in all our offices and local / national discounts for staff.

We are recruiting a Senior Accountant in the Social Care Finance Department. The role will be responsible to oversee and manage the Home Care and Direct Payments budgets of £31.5m in Adults Social Care and their key financial processes, including budget setting, in-year monitoring and closure of accounts. Ensure significant issues are raised with senior management with recommendations for corrective action.

To advise services and managers on self-service, financial governance and delegations and ensure adherence to the Council’s financial regulations.

To assist in the provision of professional financial advice and analysis to support the Council’s strategic plans and Medium-Term Financial Strategy process.

Provide financial modelling on Home Care when the service is retendered and support the department on the reforms plans within ASC.

We have a hybrid working model and staff and will be supported to do this with mobile IT equipment and hot desk facilities in all offices across the borough. Professional, practice-based supervision will be provided.

Our mission is to be the best council. To do this we need the best people to help build our vision. If you’re looking to develop your career in a fast-paced, professional environment whilst making a difference, then we look forward to hearing from you.

This is a really exciting opportunity for anyone interested in progressing a career in finance. If you are driven, enthusiastic, and looking for a rewarding working environment, we would love to hear from you.
