SHEQ AdvisorLocation : Aylesford, KentContract Type : Full-time, PermanentSalary : Competitive, dependent on experience and qualificationsBenefits : Car allowance, pension scheme, structured development plan, additional leave, employee discounts, company eventsAbout the RoleA well-established organisation within the utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced SHEQ Advisor to support the delivery of high standards in Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality across its operations.This role plays a vital part in fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, ISO standards, and internal processes. It is predominantly office-based in Aylesford, with occasional travel to operational sites as required.This position may be particularly well-suited to individuals with an ex-forces background who have completed NEBOSH or equivalent qualifications as part of a resettlement programme and are now seeking practical, hands-on SHEQ experience in a dynamic industry.Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety ComplianceSupport the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety policies and proceduresConduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and auditsInvestigate incidents, report findings, and recommend improvementsPromote a safety-first culture through ongoing engagement and educationEnvironmental ManagementAssist in delivering environmental compliance and sustainability initiativesMonitor environmental performance and contribute to continuous improvement plansSupport ISO 14001 compliance and environmental auditsQuality AssuranceMaintain and develop quality management systems aligned to ISO 9001Review and support operational teams with RAMS and other project-specific documentationIdentify non-conformances and support corrective action processesTraining & DevelopmentContribute to the coordination and delivery of SHEQ training programmesPromote awareness and understanding of SHEQ responsibilities across the organisationDocumentation & ReportingEnsure accurate and up-to-date records, reports, and SHEQ statisticsSupport the preparation of monthly SHEQ reports for senior managementEssential Skills & ExperienceNEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognised qualification)Demonstrable experience in a SHEQ advisory role, ideally within utilities or facilities managementWorking knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 standardsUnderstanding of relevant UK SHEQ legislation and regulatory requirementsProficient in risk assessments, method statements, investigations, and auditsStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levelsFull UK driving licenceDesirable AttributesIOSH membership (or working towards)Experience producing and reviewing RAMSAwareness of environmental sustainability practicesAbility to adapt to business needs and manage competing prioritiesCollaborative, proactive, and customer-focused approachWhat’s on OfferOpportunity to join a positive and supportive team cultureStructured development programme to support career growthOngoing training in Health & Safety and industry-specific competenciesCompany pension schemeGenerous leave allowanceAccess to employee discounts and social eventsApplications are welcome from all suitably qualified individuals, regardless of background.If you’re a proactive SHEQ professional ready to make a difference and grow your career within a forward-thinking organisation, we encourage you to apply
