Clinical Services Manager Oldham Locality

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Services Manager to join our nursing and allied health professionals directorate in the Oldham Locality.

The successful candidate will be an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (with MSc or equivalent) or a strong leader with a sound clinical background to combine your clinical skills and leadership knowledge to lead our service in Oldham.

The Oldham Urgent Care Hub and Primary Care streaming service are offering a great opportunity for you to join gtd healthcare . The services are focused on delivering high quality care and improved patient outcomes in order to maintain patients in their own home, where appropriate.

As the Clinical Service Manager, you will provide overarching professional leadership for members of the clinical team supported by our MDT leads, and will work directly with the relevant Head of Locality and Senior / Operational Managers.

You will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of clinical services, the implementation of clinical strategies and protocols to support the care of our patients and the continued improvement and development of clinical practice and services.

Main duties of the job

  • The Clinical Services Manager will be a member of and supported by the wider senior management team and will be accountable directly to the head of nursing and allied health professionals and head of locality.
  • You will oversee the daily operations of the service area supported by the wider clinical and operational team, ensuring delivery of quality patient care and the maintenance of a smooth and effective workflow.
  • To help us realise our vision and values you will lead our workforce in the professionalism, standards and behaviours expected, being an example of mentor and a coach whilst working in partnership with the locality leads.
  • You will ensure clinical services comply with statutory regulations and current legislation meet quality standards and deliver against key performance indicators.
  • You will support the head of nursing and head of locality to champion the role of clinical leadership within the organisation, identifying opportunities for development and innovation and will ensure delivery of quality and standards ensuring the non-medical clinical workforce is managed effectively.
  • The post holder will support the head of nursing and head of locality in the development of all staff and clinical services across the organisation so that they are of the highest quality and offer maximum effectiveness in meeting patient needs and expectations, achieving all required standards.

    Professional leadership, service delivery and performance

  • Provide proactive and visible leadership acting as a positive role model for all staff.
  • Work alongside and support other senior managers to ensure there are clear and coordinated priorities for the delivery of services across the organisation.
  • The post holder will be supporting the head of locality and head of nursing and allied health professionals and other senior managers by leading and attending meetings to support operational and clinical quality and performance.
  • Provision of quality and performance assurance reports for each service within their portfolio; outlining key elements of quality and performance to include (nonexhaustive) CQC / contractual performance, financial performance and governance along with action plans where areas are challenged.
  • Be responsible for promoting excellence in all areas of practice in order to support the delivery of high-quality clinical services which are dynamic, proactive, and responsive to health needs.
  • Work within scope of practice and support regulations and registrations processes.
  • Work in collaboration with the specialty leaders to support our palliative care agenda, non-medical prescribing support, infection prevention and control and medicines management (not exhaustive).
  • Support the recruitment process of all nursing and allied health professional appointments ensuring best practice is complied with and optimal outcomes are achieved in filling vacancies.
  • Support senior operational leads with operational recruitment.
  • Working positively with partner organisations and other stakeholders to support and develop pathways and new models of care.
  • Ensure that best practice is shared across and developed within the organisation.
  • Support other senior managers to proactively drive quality, safety and performance whilst embracing the need to be part of a wider service delivery team, including operational as well as clinical.
  • Work closely with the governance team on aspects of quality.
  • Support on the development of policies and procedures to ensure clinical and operational priorities are reflected in policy development.
  • Work closely with senior clinical and management colleagues to ensure evidence based clinical practice protocols and policies are championed across the organisation.
  • Support the development of new service and business developments through close and continual engagement with commissioners and other providers.
  • Work closely with the transformation office and locality team in the delivery for key projects / areas of work.
  • Keep up-to-date with local and national changes in line with gtd healthcare's strategies to ensure appropriate identification and implementation of service improvements that enhance patient experience, improve health outcomes and the support the delivery of the organisations quality and performance standards.
  • Support the ongoing development and refinement of business continuity and emergency planning processes.
  • Support the head of locality with financial and contractual requirements.

  • Provide direct line management responsibilities to senior operational staff and clinical lead staff within the clinical services.
  • Support the gtd academy to ensure the development and enhancement of training opportunities to support personal and staff development including statutory and mandatory training for all staff.

  • Provide professional clinical leadership to nursing and allied health professionals across the organisation.
  • Work closely with other clinical services managers and senior medical and non-medical leaders / senior operational managers to ensure clinical services are delivered effectively.
  • Work as part of the senior management team to ensure a positive and productive team environment is developed and maintained at all times.
  • Work as part of the on-call management rota.
  • Work closely with the nurses and allied health professionals to maintain and develop appropriate forums.
  • Attendance at all necessary internal and external meetings / forums.
  • Produce written and verbal reports to support such groups.
