Your new company

Hays are delighted to be working with a major national electricity infrastructure contractor, preparing to support SPEN on a major framework over the next 10 years. An ambitious multinational organisation, our client is entering a very exciting period of growth with great career opportunities. The energy market is transforming at a pace never seen before, and this is a great time to join an organisation at the forefront of change, ensuring the infrastructure is green-ready.

Your new role

The Project Planning Engineer will develop, design and plan projects within Transmission, including programme creation and management. Maintaining projects and ensuring continual updates, process management and managing milestones and deadlines will be vital elements of the position. You will engage with both internal and external stakeholders, including project update meetings as well as engagement with 3rd party contractors, management at a site level and end customer key stakeholders.By collating accurate progress data, you will report on project timelines, highlighting and modelling any delays and incorporating any adjustments required in-project.As an individual, you will be risk-aware, recording and escalating any potential project risks to the relevant stakeholders across the Project teams. You will build site-visits into your schedule, helping to build relationships and gain an on-the-ground understanding of progress. You will build a schedule of both internal and external reports, including progress updates, S-Curves, Planned vs. Actual, Spent vs. Earned, Cost Performance Index, and Schedule Performance Index.Compliance adherence and awareness underpins this role, along with excellent record-keeping.

What you’ll need to succeed

Prior experience in planning, ideally within a transmission environment, is required for this role. You will have previous experience of using Primavera P6 on Large Capital Projects, comfortable with Tender / PCSA / Contract / Execution / Design / Commissioning.Stakeholder management is central to this role, so demonstrable experience of managing internal and external stakeholders throughout a project lifecycle effectively is essential. You must couple strong organisational skills with excellent data management and analytic acumen. In addition, timeline management and risk awareness are essential skills to possess.

What you’ll get in return

You will work for a global organisation with an outstanding track record within this environment. In addition, this is a great opportunity to join a business going through a sustained period of growth, bringing future potential opportunity. You will receive a highly competitive salary and package, with the opportunity for hybrid working, with some time spent in Carluke HQ and on-site.
