This newly created position is a result of continued business growth and offers a great opportunity to join a well-established finance team.The successful candidate will take ownership of their own ledger and play a key role in supporting the company’s ongoing success. This is an office-based role during the initial probation period (3 months), after which hybrid working will be considered, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. Due to the location, candidates are ideally expected to have their own transport.The role would suit someone with strong credit control experience, a proactive and organised approach, and excellent communication skills. Knowledge of SAP Business One is desirable but not essential.Responsibilities
- Manage your own customer ledger, consisting of 750–1000 accounts.
- Prioritise workload effectively to contact customers, recover outstanding payments, and meet monthly cash collection targets.
- Accurately allocate all forms of incoming payments to the appropriate customer accounts.
- Communicate confidently with internal departments and branches nationwide.
- Respond to incoming calls from customers, resolving or redirecting queries as needed.
- Liaise with sales and branch teams to address invoice discrepancies and process credit notes in line with procedures.
- Make informed credit limit decisions and perform account reviews, including stop lists for overdue customers.
- Troubleshoot recurring issues and implement solutions to prevent future problems.
- Maintain accurate records of customer credit limits and proactively request limit increases through the company’s insurance provider.
- Monitor accounts for potential bad debts and escalate appropriately following internal procedures.Skills and Experience
- Proven background in credit control, with a confident and professional telephone manner.
- High level of accuracy and strong skills in Excel.
- Previous experience with SAP Business One is beneficial.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Understanding of customer service operations and best practices in credit management.
- Own transport is preferred due to the location and limited public transport links.Benefits
