If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!As an Assistant Manager in our residential home, you will play a vital role in ensuring our home operates at the highest standards, consistently achieving a 'good' rating from Ofsted. You will support the Registered Manager in providing exceptional care and leadership, creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.Champion Quality : Ensure the home consistently meets Quality Standards and Children's Homes Regulations, striving for excellence in every aspect of our service.Lead with Confidence : In the absence of the Registered Manager, take charge of Regulation 44 monitoring visits, Ofsted inspections, complaint handling, and management investigations.Safeguard and Protect : Act as a designated safeguarding lead, committed to protecting young people and ensuring their safe return if they go missing.Empower Our Team : Provide formal and informal supervision, conduct appraisals, and drive the development of our dedicated staff.Share Your Expertise : Contribute to the learning and development of the residential team, ensuring compliance with Children's Homes Standards and Regulations.Manage Performance : Oversee probationary periods for new starters and actively participate in performance management.Collaborate and Communication : Work effectively with children, families, professionals, and partners, attending meetings and establishing strong lines of communication.Meet Diverse Needs : Support the physical and emotional well-being of children, considering their individual racial, cultural, religious, linguistic, and dietary needs.Provide Compassionate Care : Understand the impact of trauma, neglect, and abuse, responding with empathy, resilience, and understanding to challenging behaviour.Ensure a Safe Environment : Be physically fit to carry out all requirements of the post, including the use of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques.Medication Management : Adhere to safe handling of medication procedures, ensuring children receive the right dosage at the prescribed times.Financial Oversight : Manage petty cash, procurement cards, and monitor expenditure in line with Trust policies.Work Flexibly : Contribute to rota management, working unsociable hours, shifts, weekends, bank holidays, and potentially supporting overnight trips and holidays.Monitor and Audit : Ensure all children's files are up to date, statutory documentation is completed, and remedial action is taken promptly.Maintain Confidentiality : Act in accordance with GDPR requirements when handling information.Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care or equivalentExperience in a supervisory or management roleSubstantial experience of direct work with children and young peopleExcellent understanding of child protection procedures
