Job description

Do you want to deliver work that truly matters to our community?

There’s never been a better time to join the energy industry! At Western Power we’re working towards our vision for a clean energy future and we’re looking for diverse, passionate people to join our team of world leading experts.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Product Lead at Perth Office CBD on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

About this role

Rooftop solar systems, batteries, electric vehicles and other technologies are transforming Western Australia’s electricity system. These Distributed Energy Resources (or DER) present both challenges and opportunities for the way we produce, manage and consume electricity in our State.

As “Product Owner” of DER Connections, the position is accountable for defining and maximising the value creation from the product team – represents the business sponsor by prioritising and planning the product backlog, defining epics (high-level deliverables) and creating user stories (process tasks supported by granular deliverables).

It serves as an internal product expert for the business area and development teams - developing efficient transparent customer-centric processes, balancing the needs and risks for multiple stakeholders.

This position is critical to Western Power achieving the DER Roadmap actions to realise a future where DER is integral to a safe, reliable and efficient electricity system, and where the full capabilities of DER can provide benefits and value to all customers.

About you

We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a field relevant to the business.
  • Seasoned professional with extensive expertise and knowledge having worked as a Program or Project Manager for a minimum of 8 + years with demonstrated experience in high value / highly complex projects.
  • More than 2 years’ experience in a product owner or product management role
  • Demonstrated success delivering project outcomes including design, development, and implementation
  • Demonstrated 2+ experience working in or leading projects using an Agile methodology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in influencing senior management and guiding working groups
  • Prior experience in developing product strategy, product development roadmap and process success in delivering to a plan
  • Clear decision-making ability and proven success in balancing multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure and meeting deadlines.

Joining Western Power

Our people play a vital role in creating an innovative, safe, and supportive workplace, living our values and delivering exceptional service to the communities in which we operate.

We are committed to building a diverse workforce and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, women, young & mature age workers, the LGBTQI+ community.

We are an employer of choice, offering our employees a range of benefits that include :

  • Competitive salary plus 11% superannuation
  • Flexible work arrangements that support part time work, flexible working hours and working from home arrangements
  • Professional Development opportunities including training initiatives and study assistance
  • An award-winning employee recognition and benefits programme
  • Access to five Employee Network Groups – First Nations, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Diverse Sexualities and Genders, Women, and People with Disability – which celebrate and communicate the diversity of our workforce and connect diversity and inclusion to our broader business activities
  • The opportunity to purchase up to four weeks of additional leave per year
  • Access to salary packaging, social club activities, and discounted health insurance and gym membership
