Landmarc Support Services are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Fitter to be part of our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll take on a variety of maintenance, repair, and fabrication tasks to keep our estate running smoothly. You’ll work on assets, vehicles, buildings, and equipment, ensuring everything is safe, reliable, and operating at its best. Location : RAF Spadeadam, Gilsland, Brampton, Cumbria, CA8 7AT

Main Responsibilities

Perform repairs, maintenance, and inspections on engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension systems, and other equipment.

Carry out diagnostic work and fault-finding to identify and resolve issues efficiently

Use and maintain tools, machinery, and company equipment safely and effectively

Conduct preventative maintenance and remedial repairs, including working at height or in confined spaces when required.

Assist with new builds, stock management, and fabrication of targets

Complete all documentation accurately using both IT and paper-based systems.

Communicate effectively with stakeholders, contractors, and asset users to ensure smooth site operations.

Provide mentorship and support to apprentices or trainees

Undertake driving tasks, including operating specialist plant machinery if required.

The Ideal Candidate

Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., City & Guilds, ONC, NVQ) or equivalent, with relevant experience.

Full UK driving licence (Category C desirable)

Solid understanding of health & safety practices, including COSHH, manual handling, risk assessments, and safe systems of work

Knowledge of specialist equipment (e.g., plant machinery and generators)

IT proficiency to complete documentation and reports

Ability to operate and maintain tools and equipment effectively

Strong problem-solving skills and a proven track record of meeting objectives.

Excellent communication skills and experience dealing with customers.

Willingness to undertake training for high-risk environments (e.g., working at height or in confined spaces).

About the Company

Landmarc provides the support services that enable Armed Forces from around the world to prepare for frontline military operations across the UK Defence Training Estate (DTE). This includes maintaining and delivering safe and sustainable infrastructure, managing and operating training areas and ranges and delivering multi-million pound projects to improve vital training assets.
