SEND HLTA - functional skillsType : temp-to-perm (permanent via trial contract)Dates : ASAPLocation : GloucesterPay : £100 - £140 per day during trial contract Our client is a new & expanding Alternative Education Provision, serving primary & secondary-aged pupils with EHCPs relating to SEMH based on multiple sites around Gloucestershire. They operate a ‘revolving-door’ offering whereby students stay at the provision for up to 18 weeks, either on a full-time or part-time 'transition' basis before returning to a mainstream education setting or attending a special school. Despite many of the challenges which their learners face, although the learners may display challenging behaviours, the school maintain a 'no-restraint' policy and always use a restorative approach to working with their learners. We are seeking an experienced SEND HLTA and ideally someone with previous experience of having worked with learners that have SEMH and have experienced trauma who may have other needs relating to ASC, SEMH, trauma, ADHD. The ideal person will be able to act as a positive role model and deliver functional skills for literacy & numeracy sessions, PPA cover and also interventions. We seek individuals that are skilled in recognising the emotional and educational needs of the learner and who are able to respond to and create appropriate learning activities & opportunities around the needs of individual learners. Many of the learners have not engaged in education for a significant amount of time so commonly, an individual approach for each child is necessary. Empathy and patience are key character traits we look for when considering people to work in such a setting. The right person will be child-centred in their approach, enthusiastic and hardworking, determined that every day provides a ‘fresh start’ for children. The role will start on a trial basis for the 60 day probation period and then transfer to permanent contract pending satisfactory performance.
