Your role
You will be the technical lead of a team of software engineers, responsible for the design, development and operations of high-throughput pipelines necessary to ensure that ENA can support scientists all over the world by being able to ingest, process, persist and distribute large volumes of sequence data.
You will work together with ENA’s development and operational teams, EBI’s IT and Technical services teams, and the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration (INSDC). You will have an opportunity to shape the development team, and will set up and oversee the development processes.

Contract duration : 3 years
Grading : 7 (monthly salary starting at £4,111 after tax but excl. pension & insurances) + benefits

You have
- At least 12 years professional experience, with a track record of leading complex projects from conception to delivery.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering scalable, high-performance solutions.
- Experience with setting up and running development teams.
- Experience with the modern, fundamental software development practices, including continuous integration and deployment, application of various software testing principles, processes and tools, system monitoring.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work as part of a team of people with a range of skills and a diversity of backgrounds.
