You’ll be a key member of the Wearside team supporting 9 substations / sites and the largest overhaul of the UK electricity grid in generations. Fitter Overview

Mechanical and Electrical fitters take on the responsibility of a wide range of duties on Substation plant and equipment. This work is predominately outdoors and includes installation of new equipment, refurbishment and maintenance of existing equipment, fault investigation and repair as well as routine condition monitoring in line with commercial targets. You’ll benefit from our industry-leading training at our facilities based in Eakring, Nottinghamshire and other substation sites. A training programme will be provided which may require occasional stays away from home, with generous mobility and overnight allowances.

You’ll join a team of fitters and work on complex 275kV or 400kV circuit breakers, transformers, high-speed on-load tap changers, and cable systems, plus all kinds of ancillary equipment such as DC battery systems, air compressors, and diesel generators. Throughout the year, there are some requirements for weekend work which overtime will be paid. We offer on-the-job and formal training opportunities for development.
