We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Estate Worker to join our team to manage our Norfolk Broads Reserves, including RSPB Mid Yare Valley, Sutton Fen, and Berney Marshes.
The reserves offer a complex mix of habitats which are home to an amazing array of wildlife including some of our most iconic and threatened species such as Swallowtail Butterfly, Fen Raft Spider, Fen Orchid, Crane, Bittern, and some of the best surviving populations of breeding wading birds in lowland England. This makes a perfect training ground for someone looking to start their career in conservation.
The Estate Worker role is incredibly varied and rewarding, whether that is conducting dawn breeding birds surveys, driving the tractor and using a variety of machinery to undertake habitat management, or leading on the upkeep of visitor and estate infrastructure. You will join a passionate and dedicated team working at the forefront of conservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance of buildings and infrastructure to ensure they are operating as required.
- Maintenance of livestock infrastructure and assisting with the welfare of livestock to ensure we meet all animal welfare and cross compliance legislation.
- Routine operation, record keeping, servicing, and maintenance of machinery and vehicles to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently.
- Habitat management and grounds maintenance to ensure conservation and visitor experience targets are being met.
- Keeping up to date health and safety records to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and to enable improvements to be set.
- Being responsible for completing all above tasks in compliance with Health & Safety policy to minimise risk to the RSPB.
If practical estate work is your thing and you’re excited about working in a dynamic outdoor environment, we would love to hear from you!
This is a permanent full-time role for 37.5 hours per week.
As part of this application process, you will be asked to complete an application form including evidence on how you meet the skills, knowledge, and experience listed above.
We are looking to conduct interviews and practical skills checks for this position as soon as suitable candidates present themselves, so please do not delay in applying. We reserve the right to close once sufficient applications have been received.
