We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Senior Product Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen . As Senior Product Engineer, you will be responsible for leadership and providing direction to the maintenance & Planning team and delivery of services to consistently meet current and future requirements of the business. You will support the product portfolio of applications from both a run and build perspective, ensuring that applications are maintained and developed in line with product roadmaps with lifecycle planning. In addition, you will work with appropriate teams and 3rd party vendors to ensure the integrity of application services. A key requirement of this role will be to work with the Product Lead to implement improved ways of working demonstrated by results such as the level of reliability of application services. This is a hybrid role working a 3 / 2 pattern (minimum of 3 days onsite in Aberdeen).
What you’ll do
- Delivers Application related BAU Services through either direct staff or managed service provision.
- Develops and manages internal teams, and handles people management responsibilities including task allocation, coaching, mentoring, training and performance management.
- Works with the Product Lead to implement the strategic direction for the function, ensuring that there are initiatives to support objectives for the department.
- Works with the Product Lead to develop workforce plans that ensure IS operations can supply skilled resources to meet current and future demand across the enterprise.
- Brings knowledge and experience to set functional goals aligned with the overall IS & Business strategy.
- Adheres to enterprise technology standards, governance processes and performance metrics.
- Supports the ongoing security, performance, stability, maintenance and monitoring of their application portfolio.
- Ensures the adoption of (and commitment towards) service improvements.
- Owns the development of asset inventories within the organisation's ecosystem.
- Builds successful peer relationships with other IS and business functions through a clear understanding of business needs, and ensuring delivery of IT services to meet those needs.
- Works with the Product Lead and supply chain to support IS operations sourcing strategy and partner relationship management.
- Follows the formal governance mechanism to establish and monitor effective controls for the processes and functions performed by IS operations teams.
- Coordinates roadmap development, facilitates planning, and drives quality against defined standards.
- Drives the adoption of, and further development and enhancement of, reusable, repeatable, standardized, and measurable processes.
- Responsible for ensuring IS operational capabilities achieve regulatory and statutory compliance requirements.
- Works effectively within the product function and works closely with COEs (Centres of Excellence).
- Develops, deploys, and manages solutions to meet defined business specific needs as defined through the product maps / lifecycles.
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of operational documentation (incl. processes, procedures, design & configuration, and operating manuals).
- Supports the Product Lead in defining resilience and disaster recovery strategies.
- Accountable for ensuring compliance with all IS related processes, policies and work practices.
- Provides input to the Product teams budget, portfolio of projects and resources, with robust processes and services that are fully aligned with the business goals.
- Drives development activity either via the product lines, COEs or project frameworks.
- May be required to provide out of hours support via an on-call rota.
