Levi is an active and sporty boy, who loves Parkour, football, and tennis. He is bright and creative and enjoys the arts and cooking. He is musical too and plays the piano and guitar. Levi thrives on one-to-one interactions and responds very well to humour. He does not like demands or feeling overwhelmed. Levi has a diagnosis of mild Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and some autistic traits, and he can experience anxiety and behaviours that may challenge if he is dysregulated.Overview of role : Days start at 1.00 pm in this busy household. The family currently employ an SEN Nanny, and the new SEN Nanny will work alongside her, so working collaboratively is a big part of this role. There is time before the children arrive home from school to plan for the evening routine, undertake domestic tasks (the family employ a cleaner) related to the children. The focus of the new SEN Nanny will be supporting Levi, however, there will be times when they will support his siblings, or all three of the children. Some days the SEN Nanny will pick Levi up from school, and other days she will be collecting his siblings. Being flexible and adaptable is essential. Levi likes to do well at school, and he will need support to complete his homework; sometimes he finds it overwhelming. Facilitating positive relationships between Levi and his siblings is a key part of this role. During school holidays, the SEN Nanny will be proactive in planning engaging and stimulating activities inside and outside the home for the children to enjoy. There are meetings with Mum every Tuesday, with discussions around children’s development. Being tidy and having strong organisational skills and experience in family PA duties are essential for this role. The family uses non-declarative language and resources on sibling rivalry to encourage healthy communication and emotional expression. Familiarity with strategies like Dr. Becky’s methods or Gabor Maté’s approach would be a big plus. The family is looking for a long-term commitment of at least two years, as consistency plays a vital role in Levi’s emotional regulation and development.Who this job would suit : A calm demeanour is crucial, along with expertise in de-escalation, an understanding of the roots of challenging behaviours and dysregulation, and the confidence to set boundaries with kindness.
