A fantastic opportunity has opened up for a passionate and collaborative Engineering Manager to join our Gaming Experience tribe, part of Flutter UK & Ireland!
For this role, we're looking for someone with experience managing and leading technology or software engineering teams of varying experience levels, with a proven track record of delivering projects using Agile & lean principals.
What you’ll do
As Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross functional Product Engineering Team to develop products thatrealise customer and commercial outcomes. A leader of people and a mentor to Engineers within your squad, you should be on point for advice and guidance, encouraging collaboration to achieve the goals of the squad.
You'll own the end-to-end delivery pipeline including the code driven deployment infrastructure, automated test safety nets, effective operational instrumentation and incident response. You and your team will work in conjunction with your Product & Delivery peers to implement a “three box model” of accountability for the overall output.
Other duties of an Engineering Manager include...
Take on day-to-day management duties for Engineers within your squad, including regular 1-2-1s, coaching and mentoring.
Oversee career development and assist the Senior Engineering Manager with recruitment for new Engineers when required.
Liaise with other teams with the business to communicate and co-ordinate work and dependencies.
Take ownership for code-quality, security & scalability, having a grasp of system you work on achieves business goals and meets customer needs.
Accountable for the delivery of customer focussed initiatives on the product roadmap, influencing, how it’s built. Ensuring that delivery plans are achieved, and that they are driven by data and that the team commits to it.
How you’ll do it
Actively participate in application design, data flows and detailed technical design.
Foster a culture of transparency, openness, ensuring the squad is a happy cohesive unit. Take robust action when you view behaviours which do not fit with these principals.
Support the implementation of Continuous Integration & Delivery, ensuring that delivery takes places in an Agile manner, releasing to production as soon as possible and experimenting where appropriate.
Use data to inform decision making around delivery approach, holds their team and themselves to account for delivery towards the goals of the team.
Actively participate in the culture of the organisation, championing initiatives and showing a deep understanding of commercial goals and customer needs.
Ensure that all solutions built are of high quality and well tested. Ensuring features can be tested, and co-ordinating test efforts within team when required.
Continually drive improvements to QA process, ensuring that we constantly improve test coverage focussing on automation. Establishing strong standards and holding the team to them.
